My Speediance Gym Monster Ring stopped working. What can I do?

By Peter Fridrich · Updated September 4, 2026

Start with the battery, because the ring needs charging on its own schedule. Then reset the ring over its USB charging cable and pair it again from the menu on the Gym Monster. If the button surface has worn out from heavy use, charging will not help, and the practical answers are foot pedals or hands-free voice control.

Check these in order

Three things are in your hands: the charge, a reset over the USB charging cable, and pairing. Charge the ring on its own schedule, reset it, then unpair and pair it again from the menu on the Gym Monster. If the button has started double-pressing after heavy use, the mechanical switch itself is wearing out.

  1. Charge the ring, because it needs its own charge cycle.
  2. Plug the ring into its USB charging cable for a moment, then unplug it. This acts as a reset.
  3. On the Gym Monster, swipe down from the top of the screen to open the menu and unpair the ring.
  4. Pair the ring again from the same menu.
  5. Press the button and watch for double-presses, a sign of a worn switch.

Alternatives when the ring is dead

Foot pedals are one option, but they feel clumsy: staying planted and stable for a heavy squat while hitting a pedal with your foot does not work well. GMVoice is the other, controlling weight changes, Turn On, Turn Off and ring-style actions by voice, with nothing to charge and no moving parts to wear out.

Still not working?

Record a Field Debug session in the GMVoice app so the problem can be diagnosed from the real audio instead of a description, then write to contact@gmvoice.tech. The step-by-step instructions are in How to Record a Field Debug Session in GMVoice.
