How I Tell New Users to Start with GMVoice (Without Stress)

April 1, 2026 5 min read

Let me be upfront: the process is super easy, but I know it can feel intimidating the first time.

What You Need First (and Why)

You only need one compatible device:

I recommend the M5Stick S3 because it has extra flexibility for feedback, including sound, and it is the device most people in our community pick first.

Instead of hunting random store links, just use the hardware buttons on the main page and choose your region from there: open the Hardware section.

Quick tip: If you find a different listing elsewhere, send it to me first and I will confirm if it is the right model. You can also email me at contact@gmvoice.tech.

Step 2: Flash Firmware

Once your device arrives, connect it to your Mac, Windows PC, or Linux machine with USB and open the official flasher: flash.gmvoice.tech.

There is a short video there that shows the full process. The reason this step matters is simple: this is what turns a generic dev board into a GMVoice device ready for your gym workflow.

Step 3: Plug into GM and Use It

After flashing, use the same cable, connect the device to your GM, and you are ready. No complicated calibration routine, no advanced setup flow.

Try the App Even Before Buying Hardware

You can test the iOS app right now in demo mode: join on TestFlight.

Go into settings, enable what you like, and try voice commands immediately. I recommend this because you can validate recognition and the overall UX before spending anything on hardware.
